I just got a phone call from one of my friends and she informed me that one of our Kodak friends just passed away. My friends name was Patty. Patty was a very nice person with alot of life and love inside her for everyone she knew. I worked with Patty at Kodak for many years and it was always a nice experience. She was very animated when she questioned something someone did or something she didn't understand. She would speak before she thought about what she was saying but what she spoke were words full of conviction. She was a very thoughtful person. She was a gem of a person and she will be sorely missed by everyone that knew her.
In the past few years after everyone left Kodak and went their separate ways there was a group of us girls that stayed in touch. We always get together at least once a summer or so to see each other and catch up with everything. Last summer I turned 50 years old and the girls gave me a surprise Birthday party. Patty and her husband Vinny were there to help celebrate my birthday!! I remember that Patty was excited to be going back to her southern home before the weather turned here in NY. We all had a very nice day and it was great to see Patty and Vinny. Now looking back I wish I had said something to Patty that would be comforting to me at this time. "See you soon" or "see you when you get back next summer" Those were the words spoken. There is always next time. Not this time.
Patty and Vinny came home to NY the beginning of early summer. She was having trouble keeping her thoughts together and her speech was slurred. She had a brain tumor. They took care of the pressure on the brain with an operation and then they found that cancer had spread to other parts. What a horrible disease! Within 5 to 6 months she is gone. I hope that she is at peace and has no more pain. Life is too short when you think about Patty's passing. Life is too short.............
"May each memory serve as a celebration of a life well lived"
